Terms of service

The deal, in plain English. Last updated 10 June 2026.

Who you are dealing with

Captaincy services are provided by JTJ Services Pty Ltd, an Australian company based in Queensland (“we”, “Michael”). By booking a call, purchasing, or using this site, you agree to these terms. Questions: michael.blackhurst@jtj-services.com.

The services

We provide decision advisory: the free Decision Scorecard, the free fit call, the Decision Review Session, digital products such as the Decision Kit, and ongoing coaching or advisory where agreed. Each engagement is what is described on this site and agreed on the fit call, nothing more is implied.

Fit calls, quotes and payment

  • The fit call is free and carries no obligation either way.
  • Sessions are quoted individually, by complexity, on the fit call. A quote is accepted by paying the payment link we send.
  • Prices are in US dollars unless stated otherwise. Payments are processed securely by Stripe. Your bank may apply its own currency conversion or international fees.
  • Digital products (such as the Decision Kit) are priced as shown on the site and delivered electronically after payment.
  • A session is only booked once payment has been received.

Booking, rescheduling and no-shows

  • Reschedule more than 48 hours before a session: free, as often as you reasonably need.
  • Reschedule within 48 hours, or fail to attend: the session is forfeited and the guarantee no longer applies. If something serious has happened, email us; we are firm but fair.

The guarantee

The Decision Review Session carries a conditional money-back guarantee: complete the prework, attend, engage, and if you do not leave with a clearer decision, the session fee is refunded in full. The exact conditions are on the guarantee page, which forms part of these terms. Digital products are not covered by the guarantee; if a digital product is faulty or not as described, your rights under the Australian Consumer Law apply.

What this is, and is not

Decision advisory provides structure, perspective and a recommendation process. Every decision, and its consequences, remains yours. We do not provide financial product advice, legal advice, tax advice, accounting advice or medical advice, and nothing in any session or product should be treated as such. For regulated matters, engage the relevant licensed professional.

Confidentiality and intellectual property

  • What you share in an engagement is confidential, per our privacy policy.
  • The Captaincy framework, the Scorecard, the Decision Kit and all materials we provide remain our intellectual property. You get a personal licence to use them for yourself and your business; you may not resell, republish or pass them off as your own.

Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes rights that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Beyond those rights, and to the extent the law allows, our total liability for any engagement is limited to the fees you paid for it, and neither side is liable to the other for indirect or consequential loss. We give judgment in good faith; we cannot and do not warrant outcomes of decisions you make.

The boring essentials

  • These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia.
  • If a part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still stands.
  • If we update these terms, the new version is published here with an updated date. The terms that apply to an engagement are the ones in force when you paid.
