Privacy policy
Plain English, no surprises. Last updated 10 June 2026.
Who we are
Captaincy is operated by JTJ Services Pty Ltd, an Australian company based in Queensland. For anything in this policy, contact michael.blackhurst@jtj-services.com.
What we collect
- What you send us. Your name, email address and anything you include in a note, a booking request or an email.
- Decision Scorecard. Your ratings are processed entirely in your browser to show your result on screen. Nothing is sent to us.
- Course progress and journal. Saved only in your own browser, on your device. Nothing is sent to us.
- Bookings. When you book a call, the booking details (name, email, chosen time) are handled through Microsoft’s booking and calendar services.
- Payments. Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. Stripe shares with us your name, email and what you purchased.
We do not collect more than we need, and we do not buy data about you from anyone.
How we use it
- To reply to you and run the calls and sessions you book.
- To deliver what you have asked for, like a Scorecard report or a purchase.
- To send occasional, relevant email if you have opted in. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing always works.
- To meet legal obligations, like tax record-keeping.
We never sell your information. We never share it for anyone else’s marketing.
Who else touches your data
A small set of service providers, each only for its job: Stripe (payments), Microsoft (email, calendar and bookings), and Vercel (website hosting). If we add website analytics, it will be a privacy-focused service that does not track you across the web. Some of these providers store data outside Australia (for example in the United States or the European Union); each is bound by its own privacy and security obligations.
What is confidential
The substance of any advisory conversation, your prework and your decision details are treated as confidential. They are used to run your engagement and for nothing else. Testimonials are only ever published with written permission.
How long we keep it
As long as needed to run the relationship and meet legal record-keeping requirements, then it is deleted. Ask us to delete your information at any time and we will, unless the law requires us to keep a record (for example, invoices).
Your rights
Under the Australian Privacy Principles, and the GDPR or UK GDPR if you are in the EEA or the UK, you can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email michael.blackhurst@jtj-services.com and we will respond within 30 days. If you are unhappy with how we handle it, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au) or your local data protection authority.
Cookies
This site does not set advertising or tracking cookies. Embedded services (such as a booking calendar or payment page) may set cookies that are strictly necessary for them to function.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published here with an updated date. Material changes will be flagged plainly at the top.
